| Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) - The University of Arkansas intends to file a waiver on the behalf of quarterback Ryan Mallett in an effort to make the transfer from Michigan eligible for 2008. Mallett transferred from Michigan to Arkansas after Rich Rodriguez was named the new coach in Ann Arbor. Under NCAA rules, Mallett is required to sit out a year. | Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) - The University of Arkansas has named John Pelphrey its new men's basketball coach. Pelphrey spent the past five seasons as the head coach at South Alabama, guiding the Jaguars to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2006 and the NIT this past season.
